Today we did not rush out of that lovely campsite when we awoke this morning. We took a bike ride around the campgrounds first and then the neighborhood. Got the blood going and the appendages moving. We left Point of Mara Resort in Brechin, ON around 10:00am and headed North. We drove through some beautiful country on some terrible roads. We drove up Hwy 12, 11 and 400 until it brought us to the Trans-Canada HWY 17.
Stopping midway we had lunch/breakfast for me, beside another little lake or river. You can see Glen flipping hash browns in the pic. In fact, all you see is Glen today, what is up with that? I really was here.
So far we have seen Lake Erie, Lake Ontario and Lake Huron (plus many small lakes, too many to count). The country side is green, with rolling hills and did I say too many lakes to count? By way of Barrie, Midland and Sudbury we made our way to above Lake Huron, actually Georgian Bay off Lake Huron, to a tiny place called Algoma Mills and Lauzon Lake.
Tomorrow we hope to camp in the Pusaskwa National Park. It will be a long 6-7 hours day but we will leave early. From there Thunder Bay Ontario is next and then back to the USA. We will have gone around all the Great Lakes on the North side but without seeing Lake Michigan, it does not touch Canada, closest to Sault Ste. Marie but never bordering it.
We are well and settling into a routine in close quarters. It has been a week today that we left. God Bless, Debbie

ReplyDeleteI love reading these.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, love reading them and now I want a gin and tonic too! -Melissa
ReplyDeleteMelissa gave me the link to this, and I just caught up with the reading. What a lovely trip you are having. My parents family emigrated from Hungary to Sarnia Ontario Canada. Spend many a summer day on the farm there. Crossing the border was 99% easy and then, on occasion, we got searched. My favorite was when the border controller asked me to open my grandmother's suitcase, and sitting there, right on top of her clothes, was a giant pointy bra. I burst into a little laugh, and he let us go on! (That might have been coming into the states). I look forward to reading about your adventures!!
ReplyDeleteI’m just catching up as well, and I, too, am thoroughly enjoying reading them. Keep it up!
